A centre of Popular Science

Consist of preserved buildings that have been originally made by people from Grangärde socken but also wood-, traditional steel- and iron products.

The Museum preserves locomotives and rolling stock once operated by the 'Trafik AB Grängesberg - Oxelösund. Shows about 160 railway engines from 1850th to 1970th.

In Swedish only. Ornässtugan became in 1758 one of the first museums in Sweden ant the story is told that Gustav Vasa kept in hiding here for the Danish and was forced to escape through the bog. The collections include a Vasa bible from 1541 but also ornaments, weapons and king portraits.

A well preserved blast furnace, the remains of a Bessemer works and cooling canals dating from that time. There is an open air museum where one is able to walk around and see the workers´ living quarters, charcoal kiln, tar-valley etc.
